2012 was a successful year for Unity 101 Community Radio and this success was officially recognised when we were awarded the Queen’s Award at our annual celebration evening, presented to us by the Vice Lord-Lieutenant Nigel Atkinson Esq DL and witnessed by the Mayor of Southampton, Councillor Derek Burke.

The Queen’s Awards for Voluntary Service are the highest awards given to volunteer groups across the UK for outstanding work and Unity 101 Community Radio was awarded for "promoting community cohesion via a multi-language broadcast service". It’s an honour and a real testament to all those people past and present who have given their time to help make Unity 101 what it is today.

Over 220 guests attended the event - Unity 101 volunteers, their families and Unity 101 supporters from across the private, public and voluntary sectors- and all enjoyed an entertaining evening as well as a 3 course meal.

We'd like to say a big thank you to our family of volunteers, partners from private, public and voluntary sectors and to all our supporters for your valuable contribution and support.

& a big thank you to all our listeners!

Unity 101 Community Radio, truly by the community, for the community.
