Putting local organisations on air... right from their own offices

As well as sharing community news direct from our studio, Unity 101 enables local organisations to share their news directly from their office desks, through a technology called Digital News Gathering (DNG).

Developed by Unity 101, Laughing Buddha IT, OAS Software and Lime Solutions, the DNG kit has enabled more organisations than ever to join us live on air. We simply loan them the kit (pictured) and they are able to broadcast across the city via weekly live link ups with the Drivetime show's presenter. This makes sharing their news and promoting their services to Southampton’s communities very easy.

Currently broadcasting at 4:30pm weekdays are:

Mondays | Costa Coffee
Tuesdays | West Itchen Community Trust
Wednesdays | No Limits
Thursdays | TBC
Fridays | Hampshire & IOW Air Ambulance

The organisations and our listeners look forward to these weekly catch ups - from hearing advice for young people from No Limits, to keeping up-to-date with the lifesaving adventures of the Hampshire & IOW Air Ambulance!

Quotes from previous DNG users:
Winchester Discovery Centre | “ We’ve worked with Unity 101 for some years now and they’ve supported us in reaching a new audience. The DNG equipment made it very straight-forward to connect to the studio and the presenters made the broadcasts useful for the Centre and enjoyable for all involved.” Steven Hunt

The Point Eastleigh | “an excellent way to reach new audiences for our work and for our staff and artistes to experience being interviewed on live radio.” Ellie Russell, Marketing Manager
