Today we celebrate our 9th Anniversary. 9 years ago on 8th Dec 2005, Unity 101 Community Radio got its full time licence. A million thanks to you for being our Unity 101 family. Still going strong broadcasting 24/7.

Below are just of the key achievements over the past 9 years:

2006:
 Produced and aired 29 Run away stories from Mount Pleasant junior school Southampton.
 Attended over 156 public meetings and functions, AGM’s, seminars, workshops, openings, plays and training courses

2007:
 We broadcasted 78 bulletins on behalf of Hampshire County and Southampton City Council promoting events for local community to get involved in.
 We also aired 24 Safer Neighbourhood messages by local Police and Police Community Support officers.

2008:
 Compiled, produced & aired an “Education” campaign covering education and Higher education.
 6 Bollywood Dance Masti events helping people young and old to learn to dance keep fit and meet new friends

2009:
 728 Job slots informing listeners about job vacancies during the last one year.
 468 Public appointments and Voluntary Opportunities aired for community members to get involved in to make a difference to their local area.
 Interviewed house hold names such as: Bollywood Superstar Amitabh Bachchan, Shahrukh Khan, Kajol, Karan Johar, A R Rehman, Jay Sean, Navin kundra, Babbu Mann, Alastair Stewart, Debbie Thrower & Dame Ellen MacArthur
 Launched Uplay , this is where the community takes control of our playlist daily from 8pm ill till the next day by texting, emailing or submitting online.

2010:
 We continue to support 5 local colleges by training 54 students in all aspect of radio broadcasting. They broadcast live Monday to Friday from 2pm to 3pm.

2011:
 Lunched Unity 101 FC. There are 23 football players from all walks of life including Pakistani, Bengali, Kenyan, English, Indian, Polish, Iranian and Zimbabwean.

 A live radio link with Westside Community Radio Station West London and Southampton Solent University. The aim of this collaborative was to promote the message of higher education to the Asian and Ethnic listeners of West London helping to raise aspiration and progression into further higher education. 2012:
 We were awarded the Queen’s Awards for Voluntary Service are the highest awards given to volunteer groups across the UK for outstanding work.
 Developed and launched Digital News Gathering units. DNG broadcasts live two way conversation with the studio presenter in high quality digital sound from anywhere
 We launched Unity 101 Apps for free download for iPhone, iPad, iPod Touch and Android phones

2013:
 Unity 101, in conjunction with 3RD Faction, put on our first ever live con-cert, a musical tribute to the late Ustad Nusrat Fateh Ali Khan.
