From playing with toys together as children, brother and sister Karan Rana and Pooja Angra have grown to performing together as a musical duo.
The siblings have come a long way and, with a UK tour in progress, they still have a long way to go as they travel across the country, with the Gaata Rahe Mera Dil ("the song my heart sings") tour.
In the tour, funded by Arts Council England, Pooja and Karan perform a blend of Indian Classical Bollywood alongside a host of talented musicians, taking the audience on a musical journey through some of the greatest Bollywood classics with a unique mix of Harmonium, Keyboard, tabla, saxophone and octopad sounds.
Pooja said: “We’re very fortunate to have the support of Arts Council England.
“We feel very excited and look forward to each concert. We feel very blessed and happy when we receive such love and warmth from the audience.”
So far Gaata Rahe Mera Dil has already performed in Gateshead and will be arriving in Southampton next week, when they’ll perform on the main stage at the Southampton Mela. Then from August to February, they’ll be in Bristol, London, Nottingham, Leeds and Bradford on Avon.
Karan said: “The audience can expect a rich variety of old and new songs and good quality of music and improvisations.”
On Saturday 4th July, Pooja and Karan joined Vandana in the Unity 101 studio for a chat. They also performed live. Listen to the interview here unity101.org/interviews-local-....
