Serving more than 2 million people across Hampshire and the Isle of Wight, we police a diverse region of over 1,500 square miles, from bustling cities and coastal communities to rural villages and countryside. We are proud of our strong neighbourhood policing approach, including our well-established Local Bobby model, which helps ensure a visible and accessible policing presence in the communities we serve.
Every day, our officers, staff, volunteers and partners work together to protect the public, support victims and prevent crime. We face a wide range of modern policing challenges, including cybercrime, child exploitation, domestic abuse, serious violence and anti-social behaviour, while continuing to respond to the issues that matter most to local communities.
A Unique and Diverse Policing Area
Our force area includes:
Over 230 miles of coastline.
The vibrant cities of Portsmouth, Southampton and Winchester.
Major road networks, including the M3 and M27.
Key rail links and two international airports.
Critical national infrastructure, including the ports of Southampton and Portsmouth and important energy facilities.
Extensive rural areas requiring dedicated rural crime prevention and enforcement activity.
We work closely with local communities and partner organisations, as well as neighbouring forces, including our collaboration with Thames Valley Police. Through initiatives such as our Country Watch Rural Crime Task Force and community drone pilot network, we continue to innovate in our response to emerging crime trends.
